Nigeria’s communications satellite company, the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT), has highlighted the importance of collaboration in driving Africa’s next digital revolution, stressing that innovation and connectivity will play a crucial role in the continent’s future development.

The organisation made this known ahead of its participation in ANGOTIC 2026, a major technology and innovation conference bringing together policymakers, technology leaders, innovators, and stakeholders in the space sector to explore opportunities for digital transformation and sustainable development across Africa.

According to NIGCOMSAT, the continent’s digital future will not be built by technology alone but through strategic partnerships capable of expanding access to education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and other critical services.

The agency noted that satellite technology is increasingly becoming a key enabler of development, helping bridge connectivity gaps in underserved communities and supporting sectors such as agriculture, security, healthcare, and broadband access.

NIGCOMSAT said its collaboration with ANGOTIC 2026 reflects a shared commitment to leveraging technology and the growing space economy to accelerate socio-economic development across Africa.

The conference, themed “On the Path to Digital Transformation,” aligns with ongoing efforts by African nations to strengthen digital infrastructure and harness emerging technologies for sustainable growth.

The organisation pointed to Angola’s advancement in the space sector through the ANGOSAT-2 satellite programme and NIGCOMSAT’s continued expansion of satellite-enabled solutions across Nigeria and beyond as examples of how African countries are embracing innovation to drive progress.

NIGCOMSAT emphasised that the partnerships and collaborations established today will shape the continent’s digital future, adding that Africa is increasingly positioning itself as a major player in the global technology and space ecosystem.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote connectivity, innovation, and inclusive development, noting that Africa’s future is being built on the continent through the collective efforts of governments, institutions, and technology stakeholders.
