Nigeria Police Arrest, Repatriate Chadian Fugitive Wanted Over Murder in N’Djamena
The Nigeria Police Force, through operatives of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Abuja, has arrested and repatriated a Chadian national wanted by authorities in N’Djamena over the alleged murder of Nazik Mahamat Saleh, who was reportedly tortured and killed on May 3, 2026.
The suspect, identified as Mahadijiria Abdoulaye, was arrested in Kano State following a coordinated intelligence operation and subsequently returned to Chad to face the judicial process.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, an international warrant of arrest was issued by the Court of Appeal, N’Djamena, on June 22, 2026, against Abdoulaye and her alleged accomplice, Fatime Senoussi Mouktar, in connection with the case.
Suspect Traced to Kano
The police said Abdoulaye, who is also allegedly linked to narcotics trafficking activities in Chad, fled the country following the incident and entered Nigeria.
Following intelligence-sharing and coordinated efforts between Nigerian and Chadian authorities, operatives of INTERPOL NCB Abuja traced and arrested her on August 5, 2026, at Railway Quarters in the Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The arrest, according to the police, underscores the increasing importance of international intelligence cooperation in tracking fugitives who attempt to evade justice by crossing national borders.
Repatriated to Chad
The suspect was subsequently repatriated to N’Djamena, Chad, on August 14, 2026, through Lomé, Togo, under established bilateral police cooperation arrangements.
The operation was carried out by INTERPOL NCB Abuja in close collaboration with INTERPOL NCB N’Djamena, paving the way for Abdoulaye to return to Chad and face the judicial authorities over the allegations against her.
The Nigeria Police Force said the successful operation demonstrates the effectiveness of cooperation between law enforcement agencies across borders in combating serious crimes and preventing fugitives from finding safe havens outside their countries.
IGP Commends INTERPOL Operatives
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the operatives of INTERPOL NCB Abuja for their professionalism, diligence and effective coordination with their Chadian counterparts.
The IGP stressed that the successful arrest and repatriation sends a clear message that international borders will not be allowed to become escape routes for individuals wanted for serious crimes.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to strengthening international law-enforcement partnerships and ensuring that fugitives are brought before the appropriate authorities to answer allegations against them.
The Force said it would continue to leverage INTERPOL channels, intelligence-sharing mechanisms and bilateral police cooperation to track and apprehend wanted persons, regardless of where they attempt to hide.
