Nigeria, Sierra Leone Deepen Digital Economy Collaboration as Minister Bosun Tijani Leads High-Powered Delegation to Freetown

It has been an inspiring two days of engagement and strategic deliberations as the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, led a high-powered Nigerian delegation to Freetown for the Nigeria–Sierra Leone Digital Economy Bilateral Mission.

The mission underscores both nations’ shared commitment to strengthening regional ties and accelerating cooperation in innovation, talent development, digital infrastructure, and technology-driven economic growth.

The Nigerian delegation included key representatives from government and the private sector, among them the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI), the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Galaxy Backbone Limited (GBB), the National Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR), and the Office for Nigerian Digital Innovation (ONDI).
Private-sector innovators such as Flutterwave, CcHUB, Awarri, Miden, Cybervergent, Wakanow, and IHS Towers also played key roles in the engagements.

Over the course of the technical sessions, both countries shared insights, reviewed existing partnerships, and explored new opportunities to jointly drive digital transformation across West Africa. The deliberations reaffirmed the belief that Africa’s digital future must be anchored on collaboration, mutual capacity-building, and a clear, inclusive roadmap for growth.

With renewed commitment from both sides, the Nigeria–Sierra Leone Digital Economy Bilateral Mission signals a stronger regional partnership aimed at empowering citizens, enabling innovation ecosystems, and positioning West Africa as a rising force in the global digital economy.
