Nigerian Army Boosts Anti-Insecurity Efforts with Deployment of Modern Equipment
In a recent media chat organized by the Nigerian Army civil-military cooperation in Sokoto on Wednesday, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, revealed the Army’s commitment to tackling insecurity by deploying modern equipment for operations across the country.
Lagbaja, represented by Major General Godwin Mutkut, the Garrison Officer Commander 8 Division, highlighted the significance of modern equipment deployment in enhancing the fight against bandits, terrorists, and other criminal elements causing insecurity. He assured that the Army would continue implementing robust strategies encompassing kinetic and non-kinetic lines of operations.
“I am glad to state that the Nigerian Army has taken delivery of some modern equipment and other combat enablers while the provisions of more have been finalized,” Lagbaja remarked. “The new additions to our operational capacity have been deployed, and their effects are being witnessed across various theatres of operations.”
He emphasized the importance of well-trained and motivated troops in discharging their constitutional responsibilities and reported an increasing tempo in operations with remarkable success in various theatres. Lagbaja explained that the deployment of troops across geopolitical zones aimed to address the multiplicity of security challenges in each region.
To achieve a swift resolution of security challenges, Lagbaja called for collective efforts, emphasizing the role of media in not unintentionally providing oxygen to non-state actors through the propagation of nefarious activities.
“Terrorists, insurgents, and other deviants seek attention and thrive on propaganda and the rain of fear on well-meaning citizens,” he cautioned. “It is our collective efforts that would guarantee the effective decimation of insecurity and restoration of peace in our society.”
Lagbaja further advocated for a whole-of-nation approach, harnessing the collective strength of individuals and organizations to defeat the common enemy of the nation. He commended President Bola Tinubu for his continuous strategic guidance and unwavering support to the Nigerian Army.
