Nigerian Army Engineers Complete Vital 132 KV Double Circuit Transmission Line
Sappers Engineering Nigeria Limited (SENL), a subsidiary of the Nigerian Army Engineers, has successfully finalised the construction of 5 No Tower 132 KV double circuit transmission lines.
This accomplishment, part of a broader initiative to enhance the country’s power infrastructure, was executed in collaboration with the China National Electric Engineering Company (CNEEC) along the Tegina-Zungeru corridor in Niger State.
The project encompassed various crucial tasks such as right-of-way clearing, tower alignment, excavation, blinding/stub setting, reinforcement work, concrete work, backfilling, and tower erection.
Notably, the project has been completed 100 percent and handed over to CNEEC in fulfillment of contractual obligations.
Anticipated to have a significant impact on the nation’s power sector, the transmission lines will contribute to improved electricity supply, fostering industrial development. Furthermore, the project will play a vital role in flood control, as well as the growth of fisheries and agriculture in the region.
The contract for constructing the 5 No Tower double circuit transmission line was awarded to SENL in 2023, addressing security challenges experienced in the Zungeru general area of Niger State.
This initiative underscores the Nigerian Army’s commitment to contributing to the socio-economic development and progress of the country by deploying its special capabilities to support national growth.
