Nigerian Army Pledges Full Support to INEC for Edo Gubernatorial Election
Brigadier General Ebenezer Oduyebo, Commander 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, has affirmed the Brigade’s unwavering commitment to ensuring a free, fair, and credible gubernatorial election in Edo State, assuring the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the Army’s support.
The assurance was conveyed during a meeting today, Wednesday, February 21, 2024, where the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Anugbum Onuoha, visited the Brigade Headquarters. General Oduyebo emphasised the Army’s apolitical stance and its dedication to carrying out duties professionally, aligning with its constitutional mandate to provide a secure environment for INEC’s success through collaboration with the police and other security agencies.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Dr. Anugbum Onuoha highlighted the importance of the visit to strengthen the existing cordial relationship between the Brigade and the commission, especially with the upcoming gubernatorial electoral processes in the state. He reiterated that “with the Brigade’s support, the Commission is poised to conduct a successful, free, fair, and credible election.”
