The assurance came during the 2025 West African Social Activities (WASA) ceremony held on Saturday at Shadawanka Barracks, Bauchi, organised by the 33 Brigade of the Nigerian Army.

Brigadier-General Uchechukwu Godwin Simon, the Brigade Commander, emphasized that security is a shared responsibility. He noted that while the Army will continue to perform its constitutional duties diligently, intelligence sharing and community support are vital to eliminating crime across the state.

Describing WASA as a key military tradition, Brig-Gen. Simon highlighted its role in celebrating the Army’s identity, cultural heritage, and yearly achievements. He also thanked Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, and the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Waidi Shaibu, for their consistent support and strategic leadership.

Representing Governor Mohammed, State Chief Security Adviser and retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Sani Mohammed, commended the Nigerian Army for its professionalism, resilience, and sacrifices in safeguarding internal security. He described WASA as a unifying platform that enhances discipline, camaraderie, and civil-military relations while boosting troop morale.

Governor Mohammed’s administration reaffirmed continued backing for the Army and other security agencies, noting that peace and security are essential for socio-economic development and citizens’ well-being.

The ceremony featured colourful cultural performances, a tug-of-war competition, awards presentations to outstanding personnel, and the ceremonial lowering of flags. The event concluded with a bonfire, symbolizing unity and brotherhood among officers and soldiers.
