Nigerian DJs Suspend Burna Boy’s Music Over Alleged Incident Involving DJ Tunez
The Nigerian DJ Association has announced a temporary suspension of Afrobeats star Burna Boy’s songs across DJs’ playlists nationwide following an alleged incident involving DJ Tunez.
The incident reportedly took place on Monday at Obi’s House, a popular weekly Afrobeats gathering in Lagos, where viral videos circulating on social media show a heated argument between Burna Boy and DJ Tunez escalating into a physical confrontation. Members of Burna Boy’s team were alleged to have joined the fray before bystanders intervened to restore calm.
In a statement, the NDJ said it is investigating the matter and emphasised the need to ensure freedom, equality, and respect for DJs across the country. “We must create an environment where all DJs can flourish. We cannot all succeed when some are being held back,” the association said, warning that discrimination against any member would not be tolerated.
The temporary suspension of Burna Boy’s music is a precautionary measure pending the outcome of a full investigation. No official response has yet been received from the artist’s management team.
The NDJ also urged DJs nationwide to remain vigilant and maintain professionalism in their interactions with both male and female artists during events.
The development has sparked widespread discussion in the entertainment industry, with stakeholders closely monitoring the investigation and its potential impact on industry relations.
