Nigerian Navy foils crude theft on Lagos vandalized pipeline

The Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft has discovered and halted the siphoning of petrol from an oil pipeline at Atlas Cove, Lagos belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.
The Commander, NNS BEECROFT, Commodore Kolawole Oguntuga, made this disclosure in a statement on Thursday through the command’s spokesperson, Sub. Lt. Happiness Collins.
He said the activities of the fuel thieves were halted on Wednesday.

“After halting their activities, the NNPCL was alerted and repairs on the vandalized parts of the pipeline have gone underway.
“Efforts are ongoing to detect and rectify other potential vulnerabilities along the pipeline to ensure a comprehensive approach to deter future illegal activities,’’ he said.
According to Oguntuga, the availability of petroleum products and the country’s economic health were seriously threatened by the actions of economic saboteurs.
