NITDA DG Briefs Permanent Secretary on Agency’s Role in Advancing Digital Economy

In a strategic move to align with the national agenda for economic transformation through technological innovation, the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, along with his management team, on Wednesday convened with the newly appointed Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Engr Faruk Yusuf Yabo.
During the meeting which took place at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja, the DG provided a comprehensive overview of NITDA’s activities, projects, programs, and achievements, highlighting the agency’s pivotal role in the nation’s digital transformation journey.
He further explained the agency’s evolution, noting the transition to the National ICT policy in 2012 and the subsequent paradigm shift towards the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy in 2019.

In response, the Permanent Secretary commended NITDA’s proactive approach and reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to leveraging ICT for national development.
The meeting concluded with a consensus on the importance of continued collaboration between NITDA and the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy to realize the nation’s digital aspirations in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The visit not only underscored NITDA’s pivotal role in driving Nigeria’s digital transformation but also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to harnessing technology for socioeconomic development under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
