NITDA DG Hails National Digital Economy & E-Governance Bill 2025 as Key to Nigeria’s Digital Transformation

The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, has described the National Digital Economy and E-Governance Bill 2025 as a pivotal instrument for Nigeria’s digital transformation. According to Inuwa, the legislation will provide the legal and institutional framework necessary to drive innovation, transparency, and inclusive growth across all sectors.

Speaking at a one-day public hearing held at the Senate New Building, National Assembly Complex, Abuja, Inuwa emphasized that digital technology is reshaping economies and societies, and Nigeria must establish a robust framework to fully harness its benefits.

He highlighted the role of digital governance in strengthening trust between citizens and government while enabling efficient online public service delivery.

The hearing was chaired by Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, and Honourable Adedeji Stanley Olajide, Chairman of the House Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity.

Inuwa commended the National Assembly and the joint ICT committees for their visionary leadership, stating that the bill, once enacted, will serve as the backbone of Nigeria’s digital future, fostering innovation, accountability, and citizen-centric governance.
