NOA, NAPTIP Strengthen Collaboration Against Human Trafficking in FCT
The National Orientation Agency (NOA), FCT Directorate, has sought stronger collaboration with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) to intensify public enlightenment and grassroots sensitisation against human trafficking and related forms of exploitation.
The Director of NOA in the FCT, Princess Egbe Akenzua, led a delegation of deputy directors and other staff on a courtesy visit to NAPTIP in Abuja on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
During the visit, Akenzua highlighted areas of possible collaboration, including public enlightenment campaigns, grassroots mobilisation, strategic communication, capacity building and community referrals to strengthen efforts to combat human trafficking.
Responding, the NAPTIP delegation, led by Mrs Ijeoma Uduak, Deputy Director of Public Enlightenment, who represented the Director-General of the agency, commended NOA for its role in public orientation and described it as the mouthpiece of the nation.
Uduak also expressed NAPTIP’s readiness to collaborate with NOA in raising public awareness and addressing human trafficking and related crimes.
The discussions focused on child trafficking, labour exploitation, violence against persons, organ harvesting and the growing concern over internal trafficking.
Both agencies identified key areas for cooperation, including the appointment of a focal person to coordinate joint activities, grassroots sensitisation campaigns and capacity-building programmes for NOA officers.
The engagement ended with an exchange of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials to support public awareness efforts.
The collaboration is expected to strengthen public education, improve community awareness and encourage the reporting of suspected cases of human trafficking and exploitation across the Federal Capital Territory.
The agencies reaffirmed the importance of working together to protect vulnerable persons and make the FCT safer.
Members of the public are encouraged to report suspected cases of human trafficking to NAPTIP through its toll-free line.
