The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kaduna State Command, has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with stakeholders in the fight against drug abuse following a courtesy visit by the Advocacy Against Drug Abuse and Rehabilitation Awareness Initiative (AADRAI), Kaduna State Chapter.
The delegation, led by the State Coordinator, Dr. Jibril Lawal, visited the NSCDC State Command Headquarters in Kaduna to seek strategic collaboration in promoting public awareness, rehabilitation programmes and community-based interventions aimed at reducing substance abuse across the state.
Speaking during the visit, the State Secretary of AADRAI, Mr. Khalid Nasir, said the organisation sought to formally introduce its activities to the Command and explore areas of partnership in advancing advocacy, sensitisation and rehabilitation initiatives.
He stressed that effective collaboration among security agencies, civil society organisations and other stakeholders remains critical to addressing the growing challenge of drug abuse, particularly among young people.
Nasir also reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting programmes that promote public health, community safety and a drug-free society.
Responding, the Kaduna State Commandant of the NSCDC, CC Panam Musa Buba, who was represented during the engagement, commended the delegation for its commitment to combating drug abuse and promoting positive social values.
He reiterated the Corps’ readiness to collaborate with credible organisations whose objectives align with the NSCDC’s mandate of protecting lives, property and Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, while strengthening community safety through sustained public enlightenment campaigns.
The Commandant noted that partnerships with community-based organisations remain essential in addressing emerging social challenges and fostering safer communities.
The visit concluded with both organisations expressing their commitment to strengthening cooperation through joint advocacy campaigns, public sensitisation and other initiatives aimed at tackling drug abuse and related social vices across Kaduna State.
