NSCDC Sanctions 79 Personnel, Arrests Suspects Over Arms Dealing, Infrastructure Vandalism
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced major disciplinary and operational measures, including sanctions against 79 personnel for various professional misconduct, as well as the arrest of suspects linked to illegal arms dealing and the vandalism of critical national infrastructure.
The Commandant General of the Corps, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, said the actions demonstrate the NSCDC’s commitment to institutional accountability, transparency, public safety and a firm zero-tolerance policy for misconduct and compromise.
According to the Corps, disciplinary investigations conducted in accordance with the Public Service Rules and NSCDC Conditions of Service have been concluded in 75 cases, involving one Assistant Commandant General, two Deputy Commandants, 35 other senior officers and 37 junior officers.
The infractions investigated included alleged job racketeering, financial misconduct, theft, absence without official leave and conduct considered prejudicial to state security.
Depending on the nature and severity of the offences, sanctions imposed included dismissal, compulsory retirement and recommendations for criminal prosecution.
Personnel Sanctioned Over Rafin Gabas Incident
One of the concluded cases relates to the February 18, 2026 operational incident at Rafin Gabas in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, which resulted in the death of Mining Marshals Location Commander, Levi Agada.
The NSCDC said investigations established that two personnel, Hosea Habila and Jibrin Labaran, engaged suspected illegal miners with firearms without the required authorisation.
Both personnel have consequently been dismissed from the Corps and recommended for criminal prosecution.
Four Personnel Face Disciplinary Action Over Alleged Arms Dealing
The Corps also disclosed that four personnel are currently undergoing disciplinary proceedings being handled by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’S SIS) in collaboration with the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police over allegations relating to illegal arms dealing.
Those named are Superintendent Tesie Victor Nnamdi of the Enugu State Command, Assistant Superintendent II Okwuruinya Uchenna of the Ebonyi State Command, Assistant Superintendent II Obaji Sampson, also of the Ebonyi State Command, and Superintendent Achor Favour of the Nasarawa State Command.
The first three officers are facing internal disciplinary measures alongside possible legal prosecution in connection with the alleged arms-related activities.
Superintendent Achor Favour, meanwhile, is undergoing administrative disciplinary proceedings following public concerns over the alleged mistreatment and negligence of a teenage domestic helper, Mercy Hajara Muhammad.
Nine Suspects Arrested Over Illegal Arms and Ammunition Trade
In a separate operation, operatives of the CG’S SIS arrested nine suspects in different locations across Ebonyi, Enugu, Kogi and Niger States, as well as the Federal Capital Territory, in connection with alleged illegal firearm and ammunition dealings.
The suspects identified by the Corps include Friday Nnanna Ujor, 51; Chika Sampson Nwozaku, 48; Nnanna Ujor Chinasa, 45; Nnanna Fountain; Nnanna Abundant Ifechukwu, alongside the three NSCDC personnel named in the ongoing investigation — SC Tesie Victor Nnamdi, ASCII Okwuruinya Uchenna and ASCII Obaji Sampson.
Railway Sleepers Recovered, Suspected Vandals Arrested
In its continued efforts to protect Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), the NSCDC also reported the arrest of six suspected vandals following an operation at Sabon Wuse on July 25, 2026.
The suspects were allegedly transporting a full trailer load of vandalised railway sleepers concealed inside a blue DAF trailer with registration number ZAR 618 XT.
The Corps said the recovery forms part of its sustained campaign against the destruction and illegal removal of national infrastructure.
Similarly, operatives arrested Raphael Danjuma and Isaac Zegbe, from Toto and Basa Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State, over alleged electrical and cable vandalism at Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.
The NSCDC said its ongoing operations are aimed at disrupting criminal networks involved in the destruction of public infrastructure and protecting strategic national assets.
The Corps stressed that the misconduct attributed to the sanctioned personnel does not represent the integrity, professionalism and dedication of the vast majority of NSCDC officers serving across the country.
It further assured that all affected personnel and suspects would retain their constitutional rights to due process as administrative and judicial proceedings continue.
The NSCDC urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing credible and actionable information that can assist security agencies in protecting lives, property and critical national infrastructure.
