NSIB Participates in High-Level Security Engagement on Transportation Safety Framework
The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau has participated in a high-level stakeholders’ engagement convened by the Office of the National Security Adviser in Abuja on the Federal Government’s approved reporting structure for the Bureau.
The meeting brought together major stakeholders from the aviation, maritime, rail and road transportation sectors, alongside representatives from emergency management agencies, law enforcement institutions and national security bodies to strengthen collaboration aimed at improving transportation safety across the country.
According to the Bureau, the engagement focused on enhancing coordination among relevant agencies and developing a safer and more integrated transportation system.
The NSIB commended the leadership of Nuhu Ribadu for spearheading the initiative, describing it as an important step in reinforcing the relationship between transportation safety, emergency response and national security.
The Bureau also acknowledged the contributions of Hadiza Bala Usman, noting that her presentation on institutional reforms, policy coordination and international best practices highlighted the significance of ongoing changes within Nigeria’s transportation safety system.
According to the NSIB, discussions at the meeting reaffirmed stakeholders’ commitment to strengthening investigative independence, improving inter-agency cooperation and promoting a more effective multimodal transportation safety framework in line with international standards.
The Bureau reiterated its commitment to conducting independent, professional and evidence-based safety investigations aimed at preventing future occurrences across aviation, maritime, rail and road transportation systems while strengthening public confidence in transportation safety mechanisms.
