NUJ Press Week: Osun Commissioner tasks journalists on ethical journalism

Commissioner for Cooperative and Empowerment, Prince Bayo Ogungbangbe has urged journalists in Osun State to strictly adhere to professional ethics as the watchdog of the society.

Ogungbangbe gave this charge during the Church Service and Thanksgiving of the Osun Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, as part of the 2024 Press Week celebration held at the Cherubim & Seraphim Movement Church, Ayo Ni O, in Osogbo.

The Commissioner said, journalists should not allow outsiders to dictate to them but instead ensure that they operate in tandem with national goals in line with global ethical practices.

Ogungbangbe who hosted journalists in Osun charged them to adhere strictly to the ethics of professionalism, in order to excel in their choice profession.

In his sermon, the District Supervising Prophet of the Church, Apostle Samson Oyediran tasked journalists on peace building through ethical reportage of security and other sensitive issues.

According to Apostle Oyediran, as professional journalists, ethical journalism is a vital tool towards peace building.

He said journalists should uphold the ethical value and carry out their duties with all sense of responsibility.

While speaking, the state Chairman of the NUJ, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu who led other members of the union to the Church appreciated Prince Ogungbangbe who hosted the entire journalists while appreciating all members of the union for their usual support to him and entire union.
