NUPRC Boss Calls for Stronger Collaboration, Resilience in Nigeria’s Upstream Oil, Gas Sector
The Commission Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, has called for deeper collaboration among stakeholders in Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas industry to strengthen resilience, attract sustained investment and drive long-term growth.
Eyesan made the call on Monday, August 3, 2026, while speaking at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Annual International Conference and Exhibition (NAICE 2026) in Lagos.
The NUPRC boss stressed that collaboration remains central to the Commission’s regulatory approach, noting that the agency maintains regular engagements with industry leaders and conducts extensive consultations in the development of regulations, guidelines and regulatory frameworks.
She said resilient energy systems, sustained investment and long-term growth could only be achieved through strong partnerships between regulators, operators and other critical stakeholders across the industry.
According to her, the global energy landscape is undergoing rapid transformation driven by geopolitical developments, climate considerations, technological advancement, artificial intelligence, shifting investment priorities and rising energy demand.
“These changes are redefining how nations produce, transport and consume energy,” Eyesan said, stressing that regulators and industry operators must continuously adapt to the changing environment.
She, however, noted that the evolving energy landscape also presents significant opportunities for countries willing to embrace innovation, strengthen partnerships and respond effectively to emerging challenges.
“These changes also present tremendous opportunities for countries that are prepared to adapt, innovate and work together,” she said.
Eyesan reaffirmed the NUPRC’s commitment to fostering an enabling regulatory environment that supports investment, innovation and sustainable development in Nigeria’s upstream petroleum sector.
She urged industry stakeholders to embrace collaboration and resilience as essential tools for positioning Nigeria to take advantage of emerging opportunities in the global energy transition.
