NUPRC Reports 97.4% Compliance with Domestic Crude Supply Obligation in Q2 2026
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has released its second-quarter 2026 report on the implementation of the Domestic Crude Supply Obligation (DCSO), recording an overall compliance rate of 97.4 per cent between April and June.
The report, issued in line with Section 109 of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), showed that a total of 53.7 million barrels of crude oil and condensate were supplied to domestic refineries during the three-month period.
The figures reflect continued efforts to ensure that adequate crude oil is made available to local refineries as Nigeria seeks to strengthen domestic refining capacity and reduce dependence on imported petroleum products.
At the level of individual refinery participation, the Dangote Refinery indicated a requirement of 63 million barrels of crude for the quarter. Producers, however, offered a higher volume of 68.1 million barrels.
According to the NUPRC data, the refinery ultimately accepted 52.6 million barrels, representing approximately 78 per cent of the volume offered to it.
The Q2 performance highlights the ongoing coordination between crude oil producers, regulators and domestic refiners as Nigeria continues to develop a more efficient and sustainable local refining ecosystem.
The implementation of the DCSO remains a key component of efforts to strengthen domestic crude supply, support refinery operations and advance the Federal Government’s objective of boosting Nigeria’s energy security.
