NYSC to Introduce AI-Enabled ICT Solutions for Corps Members’ Registration
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is set to introduce additional Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solutions featuring Artificial Intelligence (AI) to make online registration easier and more seamless for prospective corps members.
The Director-General of the Scheme, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, disclosed this while interacting with 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream One corps members undergoing their orientation course at the NYSC Delta State Orientation Camp in Issele-Uku.
Nafiu said the initiative was designed to ensure that all eligible prospective corps members could complete their registration successfully through the NYSC portal, in line with emerging developments in the ICT sector.
He added that the Scheme would soon migrate some of its operations to technology-driven platforms to improve efficiency and service delivery.
The Director-General also announced plans to improve the quality of kits provided to corps members from next year.
Addressing the corps members, Nafiu encouraged them to make the most of their deployment to Delta State by building meaningful friendships and professional networks that could benefit them beyond their service year.
He also urged them to acquire relevant skills to become self-employed, create jobs and develop a strong savings culture.
“Learn new skills, and people will value your skills. Buy shares because you have great opportunities to venture into commodity trading after your service year,” he advised.
Earlier, the NYSC Delta State Coordinator, Mr John Kwaghe, presented a camp situation report, disclosing that 1,697 corps members had registered at the orientation camp, while 1,094 corps members had been transferred from Lagos State to the camp.
The planned technology upgrades form part of the NYSC’s efforts to modernise its operations and improve services for prospective and serving corps members.
