Oil, Gas Free Trade Zone Command Records ₦21.8bn Revenue in August
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone Command, has recorded its highest-ever monthly revenue collection of ₦21.8 billion in August 2026, underscoring the growing economic activities within the zone.
The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Immaculata Nyong, disclosed this while addressing stakeholders at the Command’s Headquarters in Onne on the record-breaking revenue performance.
She said the Command collected ₦21,797,527,617.84 in August, bringing its total revenue generation between January and August 2026 to ₦70.1 billion.
Nyong said the performance reflected the strategic role of the Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone in attracting investments, supporting industrial activities and facilitating international trade.
According to her, a well-functioning free trade zone creates an enabling environment for businesses to thrive while ensuring that applicable Customs obligations are properly accounted for.
The Comptroller noted that improved revenue generation could contribute to infrastructure development, enhanced public services and the strengthening of Nigeria’s economic capacity when effectively utilised.
She attributed the milestone to the reform-driven leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the Service’s efforts to improve revenue collection, operational efficiency and trade facilitation through technology-driven processes and enhanced compliance.
Nyong commended officers and men of the Command, as well as stakeholders operating within the Free Trade Zone, for their dedication and cooperation.
She assured that the Command would sustain its commitment to trade facilitation, revenue generation and economic development in line with the mandate of the Nigeria Customs Service.
