The Olubadan Palace has dismissed reports suggesting a rift between the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, and Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, describing such claims as unfounded.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the monarch’s media aide, Adeola Oloko, the palace said there is no disagreement between the traditional ruler and the governor, reaffirming cordial relations between both parties.

The palace also clarified that Oba Ladoja did not travel out of Ibadan to avoid the coronation ceremony earlier scheduled for Friday, April 3, noting that the monarch remains in the city and is in good health, carrying out his traditional responsibilities.

According to the statement, the postponement of the coronation was due to the unavailability of the three High Chiefs slated for elevation. The chiefs had formally informed the Olubadan of their inability to attend and requested a rescheduling of the ceremony.

The development, the palace added, has been duly communicated to the Oyo State Government through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.

The clarification comes amid circulating reports suggesting tension within the Ibadan traditional institution and between the palace and the state government.
