Oluremi Tinubu Showcases Harvest from Aso Villa Garden, Promotes Home Gardening
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has showcased vegetables harvested from her garden at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as part of her continued advocacy for home gardening and food security.
The First Lady, who established the garden about two years ago under the #EveryHomeAGarden initiative, displayed a variety of freshly harvested vegetables, including spinach, waterleaf and fluted pumpkin.
Speaking while presenting the harvest, Mrs. Tinubu encouraged Nigerians to embrace home gardening, describing it as an affordable way to improve household nutrition and promote healthy living.
She noted that maintaining a home garden enables families to access fresh vegetables at minimal cost while contributing to the country’s food security efforts.
The EveryHomeAGarden initiative was launched to encourage households across Nigeria to cultivate vegetables and other food crops within their homes as part of a broader campaign to boost local food production.
The development comes weeks after the First Lady urged Nigerians, particularly those with limited resources, to explore small-scale businesses such as frying akara, roasting corn and selling kuli-kuli as a means of earning a living and supporting their families.
