The coordinated actions, according to military authorities, are designed to deny insurgents freedom of movement while systematically dismantling their supply and financing structures.

On February 16, 2026, troops of Sector 1, working alongside Vigilante Forces, executed a night ambush along a known crossing route frequently used by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements transiting from the Cameroon axis into Nigeria. The insurgents reportedly ran into effective enfilade fire from concealed troop positions and were forced to retreat in disarray.

Subsequent exploitation of the area led to the recovery of a significant cache of logistics supplies believed to be earmarked for terrorist resupply operations. Military sources said the interception has disrupted the group’s sustainment capacity and limited its operational reach within the area. Troops remain in control and are conducting follow-up exploitation operations.

In a related development, personnel at the Forward Operating Base, Chabbal Checkpoint, intercepted a suspicious vehicle conveying five occupants. A detailed search uncovered approximately ₦37 million concealed in bags, along with multiple mobile phones suspected to be linked to terrorist financing and coordination activities.

The military described the interception as a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle financial networks supporting insurgent logistics and operations in the region.

The High Command commended the vigilance, professionalism, and resilience of the troops and collaborating security agencies, noting that morale and combat efficiency remain high.

Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorist elements and restoring lasting peace and economic stability across the North East.

The statement was issued by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, on February 16, 2026.
