Operation Hadin Kai Troops Neutralize Scores of Boko Haram/ISWAP Fighters (Photos)
In a week-long offensive against Boko Haram/Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP) terrorists in northeastern Borno State, troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully neutralized numerous fighters.
The January 7, 2024, leading to the clearance and destruction of over 25 terrorist camps in the Sambisa Forest and the Timbuktu Triangle.
Counterinsurgency expert and security analyst Zagazola Makama revealed that during the offensive, the 21 Armoured Brigade troops engaged terrorists in Ukuba, Sambisa, resulting in the neutralisation of 11 ISWAP fighters.
The clash caused the remaining terrorists to scatter, and a gun truck loaded with ammunition exploded and burnt. The recovered weapons included anti-aircraft guns, RPG tubes, GPMGs, AK-47 rifles, and more.
Continuing their offensive, troops cleared areas such as Garin Abu Umaru, New/Old Mjimia, Garin Munzo, Alafa 1, and Alafa 2. An alleged Amir of Garin Munzo and five other fighters were intercepted and neutralised, and newly established camps were discovered and destroyed.

The bravery and commitment of the troops significantly contributed to dislodging terrorists from various locations, including New Goske, Garin Abbas, Garin Ba’aba, Korege, Arra, Garin Abu Amina, and others. The troops faced challenges like IED threats but maintained momentum in pursuing fleeing terrorists in the Sambisa Forest.
ISWAP commanders, including Abu Aisha (Khaid) and four assistant commanders (Munzir), are currently on the run. Despite the difficult terrain, the troops remain resolute in their determination to hunt them down.
The offensive extended to Gwoza LGA, where the 26 Task Force Brigade cleared Boko Haram enclaves in Amadaga Madachi and Amadaga villages. Troops advanced toward Gobara, engaging terrorists who fled with injuries. In Yobe State, the 27 Task Force Brigade cleared Gol, discovering an IED and neutralising two ISWAP terrorists at Katarko. The offensive continued, with troops clearing Galengi, Dusuri, Arimarim, Koborori villages, and pursuing fleeing terrorists.
Despite challenges, the troops demonstrated unwavering determination to decimate terrorists and maintain peace in the region.
