Osun Amotekun breaks silence over alleged misconduct

The Osun Amotekun Corps has reacted to the allegations of misconduct leveled against the State Security outfit and it’s Corps Commander, Hon. Dr. Adekunle Omoyele by Mr. Amitolu Shittu.
According to the press statement issued and made available to newsmen in Osogbo on Wednesday by the Corps Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Idowu Abass, attention of Osun Amotekun Corps was drawn to a publication currently on social media where libelous allegations were made against Osun Amotekun Corps and Its Corps Commander, Dr. Hon. Adekunle Omoyele which has compelled us to respond to correct the misrepresentations and misinformation contained therein.
According to the publication, It was alleged that Osun Amotekun Corps and Its Corps Commander masterminding the attack in his residence on the order of the state Governor as the fully armed Amotekun Corps in company with operatives of Osun Security Joint Task Force (JTF) ransacked his residence.
“We wish to inform the general public that Osun Amotekun Corps and its Corps Commander were not involved in the act and the news on social media platforms is far from the truth, I want to urge the general public to disregard the news published by some Bloggers.
“Osun Amotekun Corps should not be brought to the matter by Amitolu Shittu, the asset recovery committee setup by the Osun State Governor, Asiwaju Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke to recover all the government assert carted away by the officials of the past administration is the one working to recover the government assets after many announcement and the letter of recovery submitted to all that involved to return the government asset before the committee began to recover the state asset on Monday.
“This initiative followed the release of a white paper from the Asset Recovery Committee, which was established by Governor Ademola Adeleke through an executive order on November 27, 2022, the day of his inauguration. The task force was mandated to “ensure immediate recovery” of the assets. It’s not a sin for the Amotekun personnel to protect the lives and property of the people of the state. Osun Amotekun Corps is an establishment of the law which no party can lay claim to as it belongs to the entire citizen of the state, we are nonpartisan.
“Given the foregoing, we would like to inform the general public that the publication was part of an orchestrated campaign of calumny aimed at damaging Osun Amotekun’s reputation and bringing it into public odium, and contempt.
“The publication was to dent unbiased activities of Osun Amotekun corps and its Corps Commander, Dr. Hon. Adekunle Omoyele.
“We however urge the promoters of the said publication to henceforth stop publishing news to damage the reputation and achievements of the security outfit as we are condemning the allegation aa it is baseless, null and void completely” the statement concluded.
