Osun Council of Obas condemns killings of two traditional rulers in Ekiti

The Osun State Council of Obas has unanimously condemned in its entirety the gruesome murder of two prominent traditional rulers in Ekiti State, the Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola and Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsakin on their way from a meeting.
This is contained in a statement signed on behalf of the Osun Council of Obas, by Oba (Dr) Michael Odunayo Adeagbo Ajayi, Arowotawaya II, the Elerinmo of Erinmo Ijesa, after their monthly meeting held on 1st February 2024 which was presided over by the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen. Adesola Lawal, Laminisa 1, who acted on behalf of the Chairman Osun State Council of Obas, Arole Oduduwa, the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Eniitan Ogunwusi.
According to the statement, “We members of Osun Council of Obas condemned in the strong term the recent killing of two traditional rulers in Ekiti State.
“If this ugly incident can happen to a traditional ruler, how much more will be the faith of the common citizen?
“We admonished the state and Federal Government to expedite action on the security of life and property of Nigerians urging the government to empower local security networks like amotekun, vigilantes and recruit more staff for them.”
The traditional Council commiserated with the families of the deceased Obas, the Ekiti Council of Obas and the government and people of Ekiti State over the sad loss of these monarchs.
In another development, the Council also commiserated with the Olubadan of Ibadan and the Oyo State governor on the recent bomb explosion which rocked the Bodija area in Ibadan and claimed several lives and properties, caused scores of injuries, and rendered majority homeless.
The statement described the incident as an open sore, which can not heal in earnest.
