Osun PASAN Joins Nationwide Strike

By Richard Akintade, Osogbo

The Osun State Chapter of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) has joined other states in the nationwide strike to fight for the implementation of Financial Autonomy for the legislative arm of government.

The Chairman of the Osun State Chapter, Comrade Akeem Adesina, while speaking with pressmen, asserted that the Association is only asking for its legal right as stated in Section 12, subsection (3A) of the Nigerian constitution.

He further trumpeted that there shall be no retreat on the strike action until the demands are fully met.

The speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, while speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olamide Tiamiyu expressed his support for the staff of the Assembly, stating that it’s their constitutional right that they are demanding.

He also disclosed that the demand has been tabled before the Governor even before the planned nationwide strike.

The Speaker assured that, with the caliber of the State helmsman, the concerns and agitation of PASAN in Osun will be met sooner than expected.

It would be recalled that members of the Association in the State staged a peaceful demonstration at the entrance of the Assembly complex, in solidarity with their counterparts all over the Federation, with all gates locked, thereby grounding the day activities.
