Osun SUBEB urges young learners to take interest in farming for food sufficiency

The Executive Secretary, Osun State Universal Basic Education Board, Mr Yahaya Bakare has urged young learners to take interest in agriculture as a means of sustaining their future and boosting food production.
Bakare gave the charge during an Agric excursion trip to GS Agric Farm Limited and His Grace Fishery Farms in Ido-Osun, Egbedore local Government.
The Executive Secretary was represented by the Director, School Services Mr Abiola Olufemi at the trip organized by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in collaboration Osun SUBEB.
The SUBEB Scribe appreciated the Adeleke administration and the Federal Government on efforts at providing qualitative education foundation to young school learners.
Bakare stressed that building the interest of the young learners in farming will help them become self reliant instead of searching for white-collar jobs which no longer exist.
While urging every resident to embrace farming for food sufficiency and job creation, Mr Bakare encouraged Nigerians in general to help the country revive the past glory of Agriculture in the country.

In their separate remarks, SUBEB Agric Desk officer, Mr Opeyemi Agboola, GS Farm Manager, Mr Awe Babatunde, His Grace Fishery Farm, Mr Ilelabayo John and a class teacher from Nomadic Primary school, Ikonifin, Olaoluwa LG, Mr Adesina Kayode, all appreciated Osun State Government and UBEC for supporting the programme.
They praised government for giving support to schools through provision of facilities that will aide Agricultural practices and by availing the young learners the opportunity of gaining experience on Agric Practices on the excursion trip.
Highlights of the excursion trip was a learner of Fakunle Unity Grammar School who was called to recall what she learnt during the excursion to her colleagues as well as farm officials taking the learners round the farms at Ido-Osun and Egbedore LG.
