“People took me for granted because of my humility” – Asake
Famous Nigerian singer, Ahmed Ololade, better known as Asake, has stated that because he was too humble, people used to take him for granted.
In a video that has gone viral, Asake spoke about his past experiences while interacting with his colleagues.
Asake stated that it is preferable for someone to be egoistic and that humility is a waste of time since others do not value it.
He made it clear that being overly modest frequently results in disdain. The musician used his own experience to illustrate his point, saying that when someone is egoistic, others find them more valuable and perceive them as being inaccessible.
He said: “To me, humility is like a waste of time. People don’t appreciate it. At the end of the day, life is about your perception. That is how I think. It’s my world.
“I’ve been around people, that I tried to let them see who I am but they didn’t appreciate it. As an artiste, if you come to somewhere, if you’re humble, they will take you for granted.
“But if you have ego, they feel like you’re not accessible so they will like you more. People would rather see what you’re doing than you showing them humility. So, just do what you need to do.”
