Peter Obi Donates Bus, ₦5 Million to Support Nursing College in Kogi
By Matthew Eloyi
Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi, has fulfilled a promise he made to Grimard College of Nursing Sciences in Anyigba, Kogi State.
Obi, who had previously donated ₦10 million to the institution, returned on Tuesday to present a 32-seater bus and an additional ₦5 million to cover registration, insurance, and other expenses.
During his visit, Obi explained that the bus, a fairly used model, was requested by the college to help students with their clinical experience visits, a key requirement for accreditation.
“In my further discussion with the Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Anthony Adaji, he mentioned that a fairly used bus costing between ₦20 million and ₦30 million would suffice, given that a new one now costs over ₦100 million,” Obi wrote on his verified Facebook page on Wednesday.
The former governor expressed gratitude to the college’s management for their warm reception and praised their dedication to improving education and healthcare.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the institution and working towards a better Nigeria.
“I assured them that I would continue to support them in my modest way as we work together towards a new Nigeria that is POssible,” Obi added.
