Petralon Energy Exports Over 350,000 Barrels of Crude from Dawes Island Field
Nigerian indigenous oil and gas company Petralon Energy has recorded a major operational milestone with the export of more than 350,000 barrels of crude oil from its Dawes Island field in the Niger Delta.
The achievement follows the successful completion of the company’s third consecutive well in the field, increasing total production to approximately 4,800 barrels of oil per day (bopd).
The Dawes Island field, located in the shallow waters of the Niger Delta, has been undergoing phased development by Petralon Energy as part of efforts to expand production and maximize the value of its upstream assets.
The latest well is expected to further enhance the field’s output and operational performance, reinforcing the company’s position among Nigeria’s growing group of indigenous independent oil producers.
Petralon Energy is led by Nigerian oil executive Ahonsi Unuigbe, who has built the company into a notable player within the country’s upstream petroleum sector.
Industry observers say the successful drilling campaign and steady production growth at Dawes Island highlight the increasing role of indigenous operators in driving Nigeria’s oil production following the divestment of several onshore and shallow-water assets by international oil companies.
The milestone also underscores the growing capacity of local firms to independently develop, operate and export crude oil from assets that were previously underdeveloped.
Analysts note that the performance of companies such as Petralon Energy supports broader efforts to strengthen indigenous participation in the petroleum industry and attract African-led investment into the Niger Delta’s oil and gas sector.
The development comes at a time when other Nigerian-owned energy firms, including Heirs Energies and Oando, are expanding operations and advocating for greater local ownership and investment across the continent’s energy value chain.
With production from the Dawes Island field continuing to grow, Petralon Energy is expected to further consolidate its position as one of Nigeria’s leading indigenous upstream operators while contributing to efforts to boost the country’s crude oil output and energy sector growth.
