Police Arrest Domestic Staff Over Alleged Murder of Delta Bishop, Recovery of Stolen Prado in Anambra
The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has confirmed the arrest of a domestic staff member allegedly linked to the murder of a Pentecostal bishop and the attempted sale of the victim’s Toyota Prado Jeep in Anambra State.
The victim was identified as a bishop of End-Reconciliation Ministry in Asaba.
According to the police, the suspect was arrested during an intelligence-led operation carried out by operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu.
Another suspect, alleged to be the intended buyer of the stolen vehicle, was also arrested during the operation in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, who reportedly served as the bishop’s driver and domestic staff, allegedly conspired with other criminal elements still at large to kill the cleric before fleeing with the victim’s Toyota Prado Jeep to Anambra State for sale.
Confirming the development, the command’s spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, said police operatives acted on credible intelligence, tracked the suspects, intercepted them in Nkpor, and recovered the stolen vehicle.
He added that the suspects are currently in police custody and undergoing further interrogation.
The police command stated that investigations are ongoing to arrest other members of the gang allegedly involved in the incident and to fully uncover the circumstances surrounding the killing.
Meanwhile, CP Orutugu advised residents to exercise caution in the recruitment and management of domestic workers, drivers, and household staff.
He urged members of the public to properly profile and verify the identities of employees engaged in their homes and businesses while remaining alert to suspicious behaviour and activities.
