Police arrest five over alleged robbery, criminal conspiracy in Bauchi

Police Command in Bauchi State has arrested five people for alleged robbery and criminal conspiracy at Anguwan Shongel and Tirwun surburb of Bauchi metropolis.
The Spokesman of the Command SP Ahmed Wakil stated this in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday in Bauchi.
He explained that on Tuesday 23 January a team of detectives attached to ‘C’ division headquarters with a quasi-security outfit on patrol arrested the suspects.
“The suspects were armed with dangerous weapons criminally conspired among themselves and trespassed into a house belonging to one Dr. Kabiru Umar of Shehu Wunti Quarters Bauchi.
“Attempted to rob him of his car, a Peugeot dark-blue in color and other valuable items. But they were chased and arrested,” he said.
According to him, during interrogation the suspects confessed to their offense, the suspects include
Musbahu Umar 23 of Tirwun area Bauchi, Salim Hamisu 30, Sadiq Nura 22.

Others are Abubakar Aliyu 22 and Mohammed Mohammed 20, all of Anguwan Shongel and Tirwun areas respectively.
Wakil said investigation also revealed that the suspects were from Kano whom rented two houses at Shehu Wunti Housing Quarters.
“That come to Bauchi through one Jamilu Isah of ‘Yankaba Kano State to connive with other members of the gang to terrorize Bauchi communities, particularly Shehu Wunti Housing Quarters,” he said.
The Spokesman said the command recovered from the suspects exhibits that include two empty white leathers of new matches, one honda car ignition key and two qlink motorcycle ignition keys.
Wakil said investigation is ongoing to trace and arrest the remaining gang members, after which the defendants will be profiled and charged to court for the established offenses.
