Police disburse N41.471 million to 26 families of deceased officers in Borno

The Borno State Police Command has disbursed N41.471 million to the 26 families of deceased police officers who died in active service.
Presenting the 26 cheques on Friday in Maiduguri, the Police Commissioner, Mohammed Lawan Yusuf, disclosed: “The disbursement of N41.5 million is for the Group Life Assurance Benefits and the Inspector General of Police’s (IGP) Family Welfare Insurance Scheme.”

He added that the insurance scheme will improve the living conditions of families of the affected police officers, including the ones; who sustained injuries while discharging their mandate in protecting lives and property.
Yusuf, therefore, appreciated the IGP for the welfare and urged the beneficiaries to utilise the payments to improve their living conditions in the country.
While thanking the IGP, Mr Salisu Ibrahim, a beneficiary of the Police’s insurance scheme, said: “Our welfare has arrived and paid on time amid the severe economic hardships in the various communities,” pledging that the N41.47 million payments are to be utilized judiciously.
