Police Mobile Force Foils Bandit Attack, Recovers Stolen Livestock in Kebbi

Personnel of No. 36 Squadron of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) in Birnin Kebbi have scored another major success in the fight against banditry, kidnapping, and violent crime in Kebbi State.

On 29 November 2025, a large gang of armed bandits invaded Zodi Village, Zuru Local Government Area, rustling an unspecified number of livestock.

According to CSP Nafi’u Abubakar Kotarkoshi, the Police Public Relations Officer, PMF personnel quickly deployed to the scene, engaging the assailants in sporadic gunfire. Several bandits were neutralised, while others fled into the forest with fatal gunshot injuries.

A follow-up search recovered 96 cows, 45 sheep, and two motorcycles, which were subsequently handed over to the village head of Zodi for return to their rightful owners. The motorcycles were turned over to the Divisional Police Officer, Zuru, for further investigation and identification of their owners.

CSP Kotarkoshi commended the prompt response of the officers, noting that such operations are part of ongoing efforts to restore peace and security across the state.
