Police Recover Allegedly Stolen Vehicle, Arrest Suspect in Abuja
An Abuja-based car dealer has narrated how a prospective buyer allegedly stole one of his vehicles after arranging an inspection through an online advert.
The dealer said the suspect initially contacted him after seeing the ₦15 million vehicle advertised for sale and later negotiated the price down to ₦13.5 million before fixing a date to inspect the car.
According to the dealer, both parties embarked on a test drive, during which the suspect claimed he was hungry and suggested they stop briefly at the dealer’s residence.
Believing there was no cause for suspicion, the dealer agreed. However, he alleged that immediately after they stepped out of the vehicle, two unidentified men suddenly emerged, restrained him, seized the car keys and drove away with the vehicle.
The incident was promptly reported to the police, while members of the Abuja automobile community were also alerted. The dealer added that efforts to track the vehicle’s location were immediately activated.
According to him, the suspect was later traced to the University of Abuja, where he was allegedly found in possession of the vehicle after reportedly driving around the campus.
The dealer confirmed that the vehicle has since been recovered, while the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
Police are expected to conclude investigations before taking further legal action in the matter.
