The Presidency has dismissed as false a viral claim suggesting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, with the Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the Presidency described the report circulating on social media as a fabrication aimed at misleading the public and causing unnecessary tension within government circles.
According to the statement, there has been no change in the leadership of the Office of the Chief of Staff, stressing that Gbajabiamila remains firmly in his position. It also clarified that Muri-Okunola continues to serve as the President’s Principal Private Secretary and has not been appointed to replace the Chief of Staff.
“There is absolutely no truth to this story. Nigerians are advised to disregard it entirely,” the Presidency stated.
The statement further accused purveyors of fake news of deliberately spreading the false claim to create disharmony within the government, while urging media organisations and social media users to always verify information before publishing or sharing.
The Presidency reaffirmed its commitment to transparent communication and called on the public to rely on official sources for accurate information on government affairs.
