Dr. Audi, who first assumed the role in 2021 under former President Muhammadu Buhari, concluded his initial term last week while participating in activities marking the 2026 World Civil Defence Day at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja. He is set to resume duties on Monday with a renewed mandate to strengthen and reposition the service.
President Tinubu tasked Dr. Audi with enhancing the NSCDC’s operational role in national security, particularly as the Nigeria Police focus on tackling banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism.
Born on September 30, 1967, in Laminga Town, Nasarawa LGA, Nasarawa State, Dr. Audi began his education locally before earning a Teachers’ Grade II Certificate from Jengre Teachers’ College in 1987. He obtained the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) from College of Education, Akwanga in 1992, a bachelor’s degree in Physical and Health Education from Ahmadu Bello University in 1995, a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Calabar in 2001, a PhD in Public Administration from Nasarawa State University in 2014, and a Master’s in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice from Ahmadu Bello University in 2019.
Dr. Audi joined the NSCDC in November 1996 as a volunteer and completed his basic officer training in 1997, after which he served as Divisional Officer in Obi Local Government Area, Nasarawa State. Rising through the ranks, he was promoted to Commandant in 2007 and later deployed to the office of the Commandant-General at the National Headquarters in Abuja.
The reappointment underscores the government’s confidence in Dr. Audi’s leadership and the strategic role of the NSCDC in complementing national security efforts.
