A native of Kano State, Prof. Kuliya-Gwarzo has built an outstanding career as a Professor of Haematology and Blood Transfusion at Bayero University Kano and a Consultant Haematologist at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital. Early Life and Educational Journey
Prof. Kuliya-Gwarzo began her medical journey with a strong commitment to serving humanity through healthcare. She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from the University of Maiduguri in 1990.
After completing her medical training, she pursued further specialization in haematology and blood sciences. In 2002, she became a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, specializing in Pathology (Haematology).
Determined to expand her expertise internationally, she later obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Transfusion and Transplantation from the University of Bristol in 2009. The qualification strengthened her knowledge in advanced transfusion practices, transplant medicine, and modern approaches to blood management.

She currently serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences at BUK, where she provides leadership in training medical students and strengthening clinical education.
