Professor Amina Mustapha Appointed to Governing Council of Federal University Birnin Kebbi
Professor Amina Mustapha, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research and Development, at Bayero University, Kano, has been appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a Member of the Governing Council of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK).
The appointment, which took effect on May 18, 2026, was formally conveyed by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Maruf Alausa.
Professor Mustapha’s appointment was facilitated by the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Said Ahmad, and is seen as a recognition of her contributions to academic development, research and higher education administration.
A distinguished academic and administrator, Professor Mustapha has continued to play a significant role in advancing research and institutional development at Bayero University, Kano, where she serves as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research and Development.
Her appointment to the governing council adds another significant responsibility to her career in Nigeria’s education sector and further highlights the growing role of women in leadership positions within the nation’s higher education system.
The appointment is also noteworthy as Professor Mustapha is the first female Deputy Vice-Chancellor in the history of Bayero University, Kano, marking an important milestone in the institution’s history.
