Rainy Season: FRSC Corps Marshal Urges Motorists to Drive with Caution

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has urged motorists to exercise caution and adopt safe driving habits while travelling during the rainy season to reduce the risk of road crashes.

The Corps Marshal gave the advice in a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, stressing that rainfall often creates hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility and slippery road surfaces.

He noted that driving in wet weather significantly increases the risk of accidents, making it imperative for motorists to remain vigilant and observe all traffic regulations while travelling from one destination to another.

According to him, drivers should reduce speed, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, ensure their windscreen wipers and headlights are in good condition, and avoid dangerous overtaking during rainfall.

The FRSC boss emphasised that precautionary driving remains one of the most effective ways of preventing crashes during the rainy season, urging all road users to prioritise safety and cooperate with traffic officials.

He reiterated the Corps’ commitment to promoting safer roads and called on motorists to drive responsibly to ensure they arrive safely at their destinations despite the challenging weather conditions.
