The initiative, implemented in partnership with the Credit Corporation of Nigeria (CREDICORP), is designed to provide women with access to critical credit facilities, enabling them to own and operate transport-related businesses. Beneficiaries will be supported to participate in areas such as ride-hailing services, logistics and delivery, and mobile trading.

The programme will commence with 1,000 women pioneers in Abuja, with plans to scale up to 10,000 women nationwide by the first quarter of 2026. According to El-Ladan, the initiative goes beyond financial support, focusing on long-term economic empowerment that allows women to earn sustainable incomes and operate independently within the mobility ecosystem.

She emphasized that participants will also receive training, digital tools, safety guidelines, and ongoing mentorship through the government’s Women Empowerment Hubs, which are present across all 774 Local Government Areas in the country.

El-Ladan noted that the programme aligns with the broader vision of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, which recognizes women as key partners in national development. She assured beneficiaries of continuous institutional support, stressing that the initiative is structured to ensure women are not left to navigate the journey alone.

The launch has been widely welcomed as a bold move toward gender inclusion in Nigeria’s transport sector, a space traditionally dominated by men, while reinforcing the government’s commitment to women-led economic growth.
