RECAP Holds Inaugural Oyo Chapter Meeting, Expands Nationwide Following Tinubu Endorsement

Barely one week after endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term and declaring support for Lagos State Deputy Governor Hon. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, the Renewal Congress of Aladura and Celestial Churches in Politics (RECAP) has accelerated its nationwide expansion with the inauguration of its Oyo State Chapter on Tuesday, August 4, and the approval of a uniform organisational structure for all state chapters.

The development signals the rapid growth of the faith-based political movement, which says it is positioning itself as a platform for responsible civic engagement, values-driven leadership, and greater participation of members of White Garment Churches in governance.

The inaugural meeting of the Oyo State Chapter marked another milestone in the organisation’s nationwide mobilisation following its public launch and political endorsements announced during its Lagos conference themed “The White Garment Churches: From the Altar to the Nation.”

At the meeting, Special Apostle Pastor Adewale Obadeyi was confirmed as Chairman of the Oyo State Chapter, while Apostle Omoyemi Akindele Akinsanya emerged as the State Secretary.

The National President of RECAP, Pastor Prof. Adebayo Adeniji, described the inauguration as part of a deliberate strategy to establish functional structures across Nigeria ahead of broader civic and political engagements.

Beyond Oyo State, RECAP has announced the appointment of interim leadership in several other states as part of its ongoing expansion.

In Lagos State, Prophet Barrister Emanuel Bada was named Chairman, with Pastor Olanrewaju Ajao serving as Secretary.

In Ogun State, Prophet Akinola Felix Oshomo will serve as Chairman, while Venerable David Omotola was appointed Secretary.

Kwara State will be led by Dr. Kayode Adebisi Banwo as Chairman, with Daniel Francis serving as Secretary.

In Ekiti State, Special Apostle Professor Oluwafemi Oladele Beulah was appointed Chairman, while Pastor Ife Akinola will serve as Secretary.

For Ondo State, Apostle Benjamin Oladimeji emerged as Chairman, with Pastor G. O. Folajimi as Secretary.

The Kaduna State Chapter will be headed by Pastor Surveyor Solomon Adamu Katanga, PhD, while Pastor Dr. (Hon.) Esiri Stephen Johnson (JP) will coordinate the Delta State Chapter as Chairman.

As part of efforts to institutionalise its operations, RECAP also approved a comprehensive organisational framework to be replicated in every state chapter across the federation.

The newly adopted structure comprises about thirty strategic offices, including State Chairman, First and Second Vice Chairmen, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Publicity Secretary, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Organising Secretary, Welfare Officer, Prayer Coordinator, Youth Leader, Women Leader, Chief Whip, Directors of New Media, Mobilisation and Contact, Planning and Strategy, Interreligious Affairs, Strategy and Logistics, Protocol, and Training, Research and Development, among others.

According to the organisation, the structure is designed to ensure effective coordination, grassroots mobilisation and policy engagement at the state level while maintaining uniformity across the country.

The rapid expansion comes days after RECAP publicly endorsed President Tinubu’s bid for a second term, describing his economic reforms, infrastructure agenda, and institutional reforms as deserving of continuity.

The organisation also threw its support behind Lagos State Deputy Governor Hon. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat for higher political responsibility, while calling on professionals within Aladura and Celestial Churches—including professors, lawyers, doctors, engineers, entrepreneurs and public servants—to take a more active role in governance and public affairs.

Observers say the speed with which RECAP is establishing state structures underscores its ambition to evolve beyond a faith-based advocacy platform into a nationally coordinated socio-political movement with representation across Nigeria.

Pastor Prof. Adeniji reiterated that RECAP’s vision extends beyond electoral endorsements, stressing that the movement seeks to encourage responsible citizenship, policy engagement, and leadership development among members of White Garment Churches.

He said the nationwide rollout of state chapters would continue in the coming weeks as the organisation consolidates its presence across the country’s six geopolitical zones.

With its organisational framework now approved and state chapters taking shape, RECAP appears set to deepen its involvement in Nigeria’s civic and political landscape under its guiding slogan: “From the Altar to the Nation.”
