Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting the rights and improving the welfare of women and girls in Lagos State.

The governor made this known on Tuesday during the 2026 International Women’s Day celebration held at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

Speaking on the theme, “Rights. Justice. Action for All Women and Girls,” Sanwo-Olu emphasised the need for policies and programmes that deliver tangible outcomes beyond rhetoric.

He stated that the Lagos State Government remains focused on strengthening access to justice, promoting inclusion, and implementing practical initiatives that enhance the lives of women across the state.

According to him, ongoing efforts include support for women’s economic empowerment, expansion of social protection programmes, and the development of systems that ensure safety and equal opportunities.

The governor also commended the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Bolaji Dada, and her team for their continued dedication to advancing gender-focused initiatives.

Sanwo-Olu reiterated that his administration would sustain efforts to build a Lagos where every woman and girl can thrive in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
