Senator Abba Moro Emerges Senate Minority Leader
Senator Abba Moro, representing Benue South Senatorial District, emerged as Senate Minority Leader on Tuesday.
The two-term senator, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was nominated by the opposition party within the red chamber and subsequently confirmed.
Senator Moro takes over the role from Senator Simon Davou Mwadkwon, who represented Plateau North Senatorial District.
The Appeal Court removed Senator Mwadkwon from his position, making Senator Moro’s ascent possible.
The Senate had previously designated the Minority Leader position for the North Central region.
Senator Mwadkwon, despite being a first-time senator, was nominated by the minority caucus.
Notably, Senator Moro brings with him a wealth of experience, having served as a two-term Senator and previously held the position of Minister of Interior during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
This development marks a significant change in the Senate’s leadership structure, with Senator Moro poised to play a crucial role as the new Senate Minority Leader.
