Senator Lawan Gives Out 10,000 Bags of Food to Muslims for Ramadan
As Muslims in Nigeria get ready for the holy month of Ramadan, the President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, has shown his generosity by donating over 10,000 bags of food items to his constituents and other Muslims in the country.
The food items, which include rice, sugar, millet, and vegetable oil, were distributed through the Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan (SAIL) Foundation, a charitable organisation founded by the senator.
The beneficiaries of the food items are mainly from the six local government areas of Yobe North Senatorial District, where Senator Lawan represents. They are: Bade, Nguru, Machina, Yusufari, Karasuwa, and Jakusko LGAs. However, some Muslims in Abuja, Kaduna, Kano and Damaturu also received the food items. In addition, the SAIL Foundation has set up feeding centres within the senatorial district, where cooked foods are served to people for breaking their fasts.
“These food items are a humble gesture to ease the burden of my constituents and other Muslims during the holy month, which is a month of service, sacrifice and sharing, and I hope that the food items will complement the efforts of others in assisting those that need the support.”
He also said that he is committed to the well-being of his constituents and that he will continue to provide assistance and support to them in the face of harsh economic conditions.
Senator Lawan has donated food stuff, medical supplies, and infrastructure to beneficiaries within and beyond his senatorial district in the past.
