Senator Moro Condemns Renewed Attacks on Benue South Communities, Urges Government Action
By Matthew Eloyi
Senator Abba Patrick Moro, representing Benue South Senatorial District and the Senate Minority Leader, has expressed deep concern over the continued violent attacks on communities in Agatu, Apa, Otukpo, and Oju Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Benue State by unknown gunmen.
In a statement signed by his Media Adviser, Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John, on Sunday, Senator Moro condemned the latest assault on the Ikpelle and Egwuma communities in Agatu LGA, where numerous lives were lost and properties worth millions of naira were destroyed.
The senator lamented the persistence of these killings despite his repeated calls for intervention from both the state and federal governments. He criticized the lack of a visible and deliberate effort by authorities to protect innocent villagers from the attacks.
“It is alarming that these invaders continue to attack at will, only to disappear without a trace, while there is no serious action from the government to stop them,” Senator Moro remarked.
He further called on all levels of government and relevant security agencies to fulfill their responsibilities by protecting the lives and properties of his constituents, who he said are being maimed, killed, and displaced from their ancestral homes.
