Nigerian singer Yemi Alade has revealed the troubling experiences she faced in her early days in the music industry.
In a recent episode of the Swift Conversations podcast, the Johnny hitmaker disclosed that sexual harassment was one of the biggest obstacles she confronted as a teenage artiste trying to find her footing.

Alade said she entered the industry with nothing but raw talent, determination, and faith, hoping that hard work alone would pave the way.
However, she soon discovered that many music executives were more interested in exploiting her than in her talent.

She recalled attending business meetings, studio sessions, and events where top figures in the industry attempted to touch her inappropriately, often rubbing her thighs under the table while she sat in shock.

“I didn’t have money—just talent and the drive to succeed. But some people didn’t want my music; they wanted something else,” she said.

The award-winning singer admitted that the repeated harassment made her question whether she should continue pursuing music, but her resilience kept her moving forward.

“If the door was open, I walked in. If they shut it in my face, I walked away,” Alade added.
