Sheikh Al-Moustapha Kouyateh Honoured with Pan-African Diplomatic Excellence Award

The Ambassador-at-Large for Special Duties and Special Presidential Envoy of the Republic of Liberia, H.E. Sheikh Al-Moustapha Kouyateh, has been honoured with the Pan-African Diplomatic Excellence Award for Peace and Strategic Engagement, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to diplomacy, peacebuilding, and strategic engagement across Africa.

The prestigious award celebrates Sheikh Kouyateh’s role as a leading Pan-African diplomat whose work continues to strengthen inter-African relations, promote stability, and advance collective development on the continent.
Born in Saclepea, Liberia, Sheikh Kouyateh has earned a reputation as a trusted emissary of the Liberian state.
His recent appointment as Ambassador-at-Large by President Joseph Boakai further reinforced his standing as a key figure in Liberia’s diplomatic architecture.
Since early 2024, Sheikh Kouyateh has led several high-profile diplomatic missions across Africa, delivering presidential messages to countries including Angola, Guinea, and The Gambia. These engagements, according to the award citation, have focused on nurturing diplomatic ties rooted in mutual development, stability, and lasting peace.
Shortly after receiving the award, Sheikh Kouyateh expressed deep appreciation to the organizers for their commitment to recognizing excellence in African leadership and diplomacy.
He also thanked our Nigeria News Magazine for its role in highlighting African leaders making meaningful impact across borders.
Speaking on behalf of the President of Liberia and the country’s entire population of approximately 5.6 million people, Sheikh Kouyateh said the honour belongs not only to him but to the people of Liberia. He described the award as a collective recognition of Liberia’s renewed engagement in fostering peace and cooperation across Africa.
He further offered prayers for lasting peace in all African countries, calling for deeper unity among African nations.
In his remarks, Sheikh Kouyateh emphasized the importance of continental integration, advocating for “one Africa, united in purpose, peace, and progress,” including shared security ideals and economic cooperation.
