The initiative, part of the UNICEF-led public-private-youth partnership, GenU Nigeria, aims to connect 20 million young Nigerians to education, skills development, and livelihood opportunities by 2030.

Shettima, who was represented at the event by the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, said the establishment of the secretariat would accelerate programme execution and strengthen collaboration across government agencies and partners.

He noted that the initiative would ensure better alignment of skills with the needs of communities, industries, and society through a transparent and accessible framework.

According to him, the new structure is designed to deepen partnerships and enhance coordination, thereby improving outcomes for young people across the country.

The Vice President further explained that the framework aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme, which targets 8,809 electoral wards nationwide to stimulate local economies and drive grassroots development.

The GenU Secretariat is expected to play a central role in advancing youth empowerment initiatives and expanding access to opportunities for millions of Nigerians.
